King Charles’ Coronation Celebrations at Bedford Hotel Sidmouth

What is happening over the Coronation Weekend? 

• Saturday 6th May: The Coronation Ceremony takes place at Westminster Abbey. 
• Sunday 7th May: A spectacular Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle with iconic locations across the UK being lit up with projections, lasers, drone displays, and illuminations. 
• Monday 8th May: Bank Holiday across the country in honour of King Charles III.

Local street parties and large community lunches are expected to consume much of the Coronation Weekend with feasting and celebrations going into the early hours of the morning.

Coronation High Tea, fit for a king

Feel like royalty and enjoy an afternoon high tea with a glass of fizz on Sunday 7th May in our stunning sea view restaurant for just £18. With a range of mouthwatering sweet and savoury flavours from across the South West, the Bedford Hotel high tea is a feast for your taste buds.

High tea includes; sandwiches, a bowl of fresh strawberries with Westcountry clotted cream, tea and a celebratory glass of bubbles.

Local celebrations in Sidmouth

In the Sidmouth area around the hotel there is plenty to get involved with during the Coronation Weekend. Here are some suggestions for how to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime holiday. 

• Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce is staging a royal street party on Sunday 7th May from 4pm to 7pm. Tables will seat six people and cost £36 each. They are offered on a first come first served basis on Saturday 25th March at the Anchor Inn on Old Fore Street. For more information please see the website here.
• Powderham Castle is showing the screening of the coronation live on Saturday 6th May. This will be followed by a celebratory concert on Sunday 7th. 
• The Exmouth Pavilion is also showing the coronation. There will be dance floors and cabaret-style seating tables of ten with bars open all evening for long celebrations.
• You can always host your own street party to celebrate. Applications for road closures can be made, free of charge, to Devon County Council. Please note organisers must let neighbourhood businesses, buses, and residents know two weeks in advance.
