NEWS FROM BEDFORD HOTEL SIDMOUTH - MARCH 2023
WE ARE READY FOR 2023 REOPENING AND LOOKING FORWARD TO WELCOMING NEW & OLD GUESTS TO OUR DEVON COASTAL HOTEL THIS YEARNews from Bedford Hotel, Sidmouth – March, 2023
First, and foremost, we are thrilled to say that we are reopening after what has felt like a very long six weeks. The work has been very much worth it, and we are so excited to start welcoming guests back to our hotel. We are predicting this year to be our busiest yet so book early to ensure you don’t miss out on our gorgeous sea-view rooms.
Over the last six weeks, the exterior of the hotel has been given another coat of paint to maintain the grand, sleek, and stylish look that we have loved for many years. Our regency home is loved by ourselves, and our guests alike, encompassing the classical elements of architecture with a light look and intricate features that we intend to preserve for as long as possible.
Inside the walls, all the rooms have been given a fresh lick of paint and have been lovingly refreshed with the help of a team of local experts. Our aim with the decorating was to preserve and maintain the traditional parts of the hotel as the history of the building is incredibly important to us, whilst also ensuring that this has not been at the expense of modern-day comforts.
We finally have gotten rid of the old-fashioned red carpet that had been part of the Bedford Hotel for fifteen years. The carpet wasn’t too difficult to part with as it somehow managed to look old, even when it was brand new! We used a local company, Potbury’s Sidmouth, to help us choose a gorgeous colour to update our hotel with a plush new carpet.
Our stunning Seaview Bar has had a new injection of flavour to the menus for the reopening including some delicious seasonal specials- watch this space!
Discover the Jurassic Coast this year
An escape to the Jurassic Coast is always crammed full of beautiful walks, coastal gems, and delicious food, however, the Spring is one of our favourite times of year. Everywhere is getting greener by the week down here and it feels like we might be turning a corner out of the cold winter spells. With new walks cropping up along the coast thanks to the warmer weather, soak up the spring sunshine as you wander through fresh bursts of snowdrops, daffodils, and crocuses.
The Valley of a Million Bulbs is an annual event in Sidmouth that sees the whole community celebrate the legacy of Keith Owen, who left a generous donation to the region and asked that it be used for conservation. In the autumn months schools, volunteers, and the wider community plant one million bulbs throughout the town which then flower into a beautiful blanket throughout the area. The spring is the perfect time to see the fruits of their labour. The best spots for viewing the bulbs are Peak Hill and the Byes. Take a look at the Sidmouth website here for more information.
