1. Crealy Theme Park and Resort 

The biggest family theme park in Devon, Crealy is set over 100 acres of glorious Devon countryside. With over 60 different rides and family attractions, there is something for all ages. 2. The Round Robin

3. Bicton Park Botanical Gardens 

Bicton Park Botanical Gardens is set in 64 acres of beautiful Devon countryside and is home to 300 years of gardening history. Discover many rare and beautiful plant species that have been collected from around the world. Admire the iconic Palm House, made from over 18,000 panes of glass. Enjoy coffee or lunch whilst overlooking the stunning Italian Garden. Go back in time as you meander through the Countryside Museum. And for the children… Jump on the Bicton Woodland Railway to explore  the whole park. Have fun together atthe indoor and outdoor play areas and take a break with a picnic, you’ll be spoiled for choice with so many beautiful places to sit. . 

4. Seaton Tramway 

Discover 3 miles of unspoilt countryside along the Axe Valley by iconic narrow gauge heritage trams. Travel alongside the River Axe estuary through to nature reserves and get an unrivalled view of the abundant wading bird life.

5. Paignton Zoo 

Celebrating 100 years this year, Paignton Zoo is set over 80 acres and is home to over 2,000 exciting animals. From giraffes, elephants and rhinos to lions, tigers and monkeys; peacocks, parrots and flamingos to lizards, snakes and tortoises.

There is also a great soft play, a selection of outdoor climbing frames and plenty of areas to stop for a pre-packed picnic or a bite of lunch.

6. Buckfast Butterfly Farm and Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary 

This small, friendly, family run business combines education with fun. Whether you want to experience the otters feeding time or see beautiful tropical butterflies in their natural habitat, there’s plenty to see and do.  Learn about the importance of flora and fauna conservation and meet some amazing animals, from somersaulting Sammy the Otter to Izzard the Iguana. A great day out whatever the weather. 

7. Dartmoor National Park

With 386 square miles of rugged, rolling moorland to explore you could make a short stop for a scenic picnic or pack your bag for a countryside ramble. Discover the hundreds of incredible walks and take in the beautiful scenery Dartmoor has to offer. 9. Go Ape – Haldon Forest 

Situated in the heart of Haldon Forest, with a beautiful backdrop of Dartmoor, Go Ape is a great day out for all of you thrill seekers!  

Scale the height of the treetops and navigate along the high ropes, intricate crossings and wobbly bridges. Zoom down the zip wire rides and enjoy incredible 360 views from the treetop vantage point. Once you’re done, take a wander around the surrounding forest or stop for a cake in The Ridge Cafe.

10. River Dart Country Park 

Rated as one of Devon’s best family tourist attractions, River Dart Country Park is set in 90 acres of parkland within our beautiful Dartmoor National Park. 

From an adventure playground, climbing pods, low ropes course and a dam pool to snake slides, a toddlers beach, tyre swings and a wooden play fort, there is so much for all the family; whatever the age.
